Are you listening?

Language: English.

For whom: Everyone.

Information: We shall open with a welcoming arrival into the online space and a chance for people to say their names and where they are from, to create a sense of community and a circle of equity. We’ll offer teaching and learning about: not fixing what’s bothering me; how to listen; listening to understand; being heard and taking turns at listening. We’ll introduce self-warmth as well as precision in Resonance for Self plus Core beliefs that undermine our ability to listen to self and others. We’ll invite interaction via writing in the CHAT box, demonstrating empathy, Meditation, writing exercise, speaking aloud, embodiment of self-empathy and feeding back in the group. We’ll remind everyone that change happens slowly and with practice.

Accepting my privilege

Language: English.

For whom: People from dominant groups.

Information: We’ll invite people to share the forms of privileges they currently enjoy, how aspects of our identity give us more or less power, how the systems we are enrolled in are harmful for people with less privilege, how the body reacts when we hear how we benefit from a system that harms others. We’ll offer learning on Privilege Fragility, Individual and Collective Responsibility and where we are on the spectrum of this plus Conscious and Unconscious Privilege. We’ll include interactivity via the CHAT box, Breakout Rooms, Meditation and feedback in the whole group. We’ll pose questions that invite discussion and deeper exploration.

Social change starts with me

Language: English.

For whom: Everyone.

Information: We’ll invite people’s reflections on themselves, their immediate circles of influence and the systems they are enrolled in. We’ll invite them to speak about and name their feelings about social systems, what needs they want to meet and what they want to change. We’ll develop the question of how systems we are enrolled in are harmful for those with less privilege. We’ll explore who is included and who is excluded from existing groups, how we are or are not able to listen to others, widening our empathy, accepting feelings of shame and guilt, empathy for what we have not done, our sense of responsibility and shame. We’ll ask what is our resistance for connecting with others and what is our fluidity in meeting others with openness. We’ll invite life stories and how we hear or don’t hear others’ disadvantages. We intend to use CHAT, Breakout Rooms, Meditative reflections, writing/ drawing, and sharing in the main group to include everyone’s voices.
